To our distinguished guests Honorable Mayor Richard Hodges,  Dr. Lavarias, Chairman Fil-Am Millington Board of Advisors, CDR Blas, Officers & members of Fil-Am Memphis, visitors, friends, colleagues, Brethren, Fil-Am Millington, ladies & gentlemen - GOOD EVENING. Magandang gabi po sa inyong lahat.

First off...I am honored to be here & Thank you so much for attending this fabulous event.  A year ago, my wife and I were at our very first FIL-AM event, a Luau at St. Williams Church. We knew not many and still thank Esther Reg for giving us the tickets. Jun Reg, after he had cut Lechon told me,  "Brother Will, you are going to be the next FIL-AM President ." Alex Jimenez was close enough to hear that jokingly said," I will be your campaign manager and political advisor," I gave both of them a smile for an answer. But never in my mind can I imagine  that those words would become reality let alone giving a speech in a diverse crowd such as this.  Many things had changed since then. Manong Jun is no longer with us, and that was the time when I started to see the true spirit of FIL-AM. The uniqueness, the bond as people came together as one family. We were hit by a flood in May, Enya left to serve on a carrier in San Diego and I took the helm-temporarily. We had numerous gatherings since then, and every event afforded me the time to get to know the majority. Most recently, we loss Gwen Ramat (Lou & Linda’s daughter) and we were bonded once again to bear some of their pain. You see, in joys, in tears and in sorrow, we are united.  Now I have come to realized that I have gotten to know most of you and I am so blessed to be surrounded by so many wonderful people like you all.
As I look around this room, I see two distinct groups in front of me, and both deserve recognition. In one group, I see the future of this great nation represented by the young men and women here tonight.  And in another, I see the community leaders, mentors and parents who play such an important role in supporting the future of America.  That brings me to this evening, and the reason I mention this is because in two years time, we don't know what is going to happen. What we know is that you are the men and women who will keep this country strong by living up to the full measure of your potential and becoming leaders in your schools and communities. I look at you and I see young Americans who will lead this nation to greater prosperity than we’ve ever known. I see potential for greatness and a hunger for opportunity.  Opportunity to make a difference in this community, and perhaps…opportunity to make a difference to our country. I have no doubt that your sights are set that high.  As President Kennedy once said, "Ask not what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country."
This event would not be a success without the help of many. I am thankful to God for the courage and strength He had given me to carry the torch of Fil-Am Millington, I am ready. I thank the Induction Ball committee, my officers and members who worked so hard to make this event a big turnout. I do not want to mention specific names since I do not want to miss anyone but if I do, it is not my intent. Did I mention that we are now a Non-profit organization? Yes, but not without the help of the unknown couple, they are with us tonight, thank you. Last, I would like to acknowledge my beautiful wife Rosie for the support and love you have given me. You are my conscience, honest critique and inspiration.  You are great mother to our daughter Mia, best wife, a learning cook but one heck of a baker. I could not have done this without you. THANK YOU MAHAL!
Finally, to leave you with a quote from Albert Pike, and I quote "WHAT WE HAVE DONE FOR OURSELVES ALONE DIES WITH US; WHAT WE HAVE DONE FOR OTHERS AND THE WORLD REMAINS AND IS IMMORTAL." Good night everyone, let's enjoy the rest of the evening. Thank you, God Bless each and every one of you and your family, God Bless the Philippine Republic and God Bless the United States of America.  MABUHAY!
